Is a tankless water heater worth it compared to a tank?
A tankless water heater gives you unlimited hot water and burns less gas — it only fires when you open a hot tap, instead of keeping 40 or 50 gallons hot around the clock. It costs more up front, and a conversion often means a bigger gas line and new venting. But tankless units last 20+ years against 8 to 12 for a tank.
How often does a tankless water heater need to be flushed?
Once a year, and that's not optional. Inland Empire water is hard, and the scale it leaves in the heat exchanger cuts efficiency, throws error codes, and eventually kills the unit. Most manufacturers also require documented annual descaling to keep the warranty valid.
